Tips and tricks for making these chocolate banana almond air fried eggrolls
Egg roll wrappers can be a little bit intimidating to some…including me, before I tried using them for the first time. It seems overwhelming to work with these delicate little squares of dough. But do not be fooled! They are so easy to make and even more fun to eat.
I have included some pointers for assembling these dessert egg rolls. My most important tip is to not overfill them. The measurements I used for each ingredient were the perfect amount to ensure they are filled but not seeping out of the sides. If the wrappers are overfilled, it creates tearing and makes it messy when trying to close them.
When you are ready to wrap your egg rolls, begin by placing one with a point facing towards you. Place the filling a little bit closer to the point facing closer to you, not in the middle. This tip is crucial to ensure there is no spillage after being wrapped. Fold the bottom point over the filling, and then tuck the sides in. At this point it should look like an envelope. Finish by tightly rolling the rest of the egg roll up towards the other point until it is completely closed. Dipping your finger in water and putting it along the sides is the perfect tip to make them stay closed.
These few tips will keep this recipe simple and quick, making it even easier for you to get your hands on these decadent treats!
How do these dessert eggrolls freeze and reheat?
If you have read through my website or seen my content on Instagram, you know how much I love keeping frozen options on hand at all times. I thrive off of having an array of choices to make sure I am always satisfied no matter what I am in the mood for. When I created this recipe, I knew I had to put these dessert egg rolls to the test. Let me tell you…they did not disappoint. These are the perfect dessert or sweet snack to keep in the freezer; easy to pull out in a pinch, and easy to reheat, whether to serve 1 or 4.
I put these in a freezer bag for storage in the freezer. When you are ready to eat one, pull one out of the freezer and reheat in the microwave for 1-1.5 minutes. Then, pop in the air fryer for about 5 minutes at 400°F to make the outside crispy again. I was most nervous about them becoming soggy once reheated, but the air fryer really prevents that from happening. They taste just as good as they do when you first make them. I highly recommend keeping these on hand in the freezer for those days when you need something quick and sweet to satisfy your cravings.

How to make these chocolate banana almond dessert egg rolls
Begin by cutting your bananas in half. If you have bananas that are getting really brown, this is a great time to use them for this recipe, since they will ne wrapped up and cooked. Lay out your egg roll wrappers and spread the chocolate dessert hummus in the middle, towards the bottom, of each one.
Put a half of a banana on top of the chocolate hummus in each wrapper. Then, sprinkle the slivered almonds on top of the bananas.
To wrap them, dip your finger in water, and wet the perimeter of each egg roll wrapper. Be sure not to use too much water so that the wrappers don’t rip. Roll each one up starting at the bottom, point facing down. fold the bottom point up and then tuck the sides in. It should look like an open envelope at this point. Then, roll the remainder of the egg roll up tightly. Seal each one by using more water on your finger.
Spray each egg roll with cooking spray and sprinkle the top of each one with cinnamon sugar. Air fry for 7-8 minutes at 400°F and make sure to flip halfway for the perfect crispy exterior.
